Walker Howard has found a new home. The former LSU and Ole Miss quarterback is heading back home.

Howard took to social media on Tuesday to announce that he will continue his career with the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns.

Howard grew up in Lafayette, where the University of Louisiana campus is based. Coming out of St. Thomas More High School, Howard was rated 4-stars, the No. 5 quarterback, No. 4 player in the state of Louisiana and No. 40 prospect overall in the Class of 2022 on the 247Sports Composite.

In his original recruitment, Howard initially committed to the LSU coaching staff led by Ed Orgeron. LSU would fire Orgeron during the 2021 season, ahead of the Early Signing Period for the 2022 class.

Brian Kelly’s Notre Dame staff happened to be one of the other programs recruiting Howard while he was pledged to the Tigers. After the coaching change at LSU, other programs sought to flip Howard, but he followed through on his verbal pledge to the Tigers and signed to play for Kelly.

At LSU, Howard made just 2 appearances during the 2022 season, allowing him to take a redshirt. He opted to transfer after the season.

Howard surprised many when he decided to transfer to Ole Miss ahead of the 2023 season. With Jaxson Dart leading the Rebels, Howard played in just 4 games over his 2 seasons in Lane Kiffin’s program.

We’ll see if the third team’s the charm for Howard in college.
