WATCH: FSU player ejected on the worst targeting call of the year

Targeting penalties are an emphasis for officials for the 2017 college football season, and this Saturday has already seen its fair share of ejections as a result.
In the Florida State vs. NC State game, the Florida State pass rusher Jacob Pugh was ejected for the below play. Interestingly, no flag was thrown on the field, but the play was reviewed and decision made thereafter.

The targeting rule has been implemented in an effort to improve player safety, but calls like this one certainly give the appearance that it may go too far at times.
