No joy in Hoopville: Which Power 5 teams have longest NCAA Tournament drought?

Midnight struck again. And for some, there was no joy Monday morning in Hoopville.
How familiar is that feeling?
It varies. Eleven Power 5 schools are missing the NCAA Tournament for the first time in years (or at least a year). Don’t feel too bad for them. No Florida State-like bowl streak ended Sunday. The Noles, remember, missed a bowl this past season, ending their record 36-year streak. Of those 11 first-timers not invited to the NCAA Tournament, the longest streak was 4 consecutive appearances.
Other Power 5 programs have had it much worse. Some don’t have a player on campus who has ever been to the NCAA Tournament. And one program’s most recent NCAA Tournament appearance came years before any of its players were born.
Here’s a look at the longest NCAA Tournament droughts among Power 5 programs, by conference.
