Star South Carolina WR/KR Deebo Samuel broke his leg earlier this season, but it appeared as if he was nearing a comeback.

However, on Sunday night, coach Will Muschamp revealed that Samuel suffered a setback in his rehab process and would miss the rest of the season.

Shortly after the news broke, Samuel released a statement on Twitter, discussing the challenges he faces. You can read the full statement in his tweet below:

Interestingly, Samuel says he’ll be back in 2018, which is good news for Gamecocks fans, as the star receiver is eligible to enter the NFL Draft.

If he does return in 2018, it makes the South Carolina offense more dangerous, and gives star QB Jake Bentley an explosive weapon. In only three games this year, Samuel recorded six touchdowns — three receiving, two on kickoffs and one rushing.

It’s a shame he can’t come back this year, but it’s good news for South Carolina fans that he plans to return for his senior season next fall.
