South Carolina moved its game against SC State up to Thursday from Saturday in order to avoid the impact of Hurricane Ian, which is slamming Florida right now.

The storm is making its way up the East Coast, impacting several Week 5 college football matchups.

In the altered game, South Carolina opened up a lead early despite 2 first-half interceptions from QB Spencer Rattler. Rattler overcame the slow start to finish with 212 passing yard, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions.

On the first touchdown of the game, the Gamecocks broke out a trick play 2-point conversion, letting big man Tonka Hemingway find the end zone:

MarShawn Lloyd had 80 rushing yards and a touchdown to pace the Gamecocks on the ground. Jalen Brooks was the top receiver, with 3 grabs for 61 yards.

Bam Martin-Scott snagged a pick defensively to help the Gamecocks cruise to a 50-10 victory over the Bulldogs.

Next up, the road gets tougher for the Gamecocks, as they head back into SEC play. Next weekend, the Gamecocks play at Kentucky, a team that is currently 4-0 ahead of a big game at Ole Miss this weekend.

South Carolina has plenty of time to prepare for that major SEC East battle, though. We’ll see if the Gamecocks and coach Shane Beamer can make the most if it.
