College football’s Bowl Season is being hit hard by COVID-19, but Shane Beamer’s South Carolina Gamecocks appear to be in good shape right now for the Duke’s Mayo Bowl.
Beamer shared that South Carolina is not currently dealing with COVID issues, per David Cloninger of The Post and Courier. He said 4 players are not in Charlotte with the team for other reasons. Three non-starters are suspended while another player is with an ailing family member.
Beamer said South Carolina’s unvaccinated players will be tested Tuesday. The Duke’s Mayo Bowl is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 30 at 11:30 a.m. Beamer’s Gamecocks face North Carolina. Each team went 6-6 during the 2021 regular season.
Three non-starters didn’t make the trip due to in-house suspensions.
