South Carolina is looking to build off a strong showing in the 2024 season as we near the start of spring football. The Gamecocks have a ton of guys coming back and figure to be right there in the College Football Playoffs.

One player who will be back for the Gamecocks next year is linebacker Colin Bryant, who was a walk-on this season. However, he will now be playing the 2025 season at South Carolina on a scholarship.

Bryant had 4 tackles for the Gamecocks last season.

Moving forward, there is a chance that walk-ons will no longer be a part of college football. There are new rules being considered that would make it a possibility that there will be no walk-on players in the future.

While scholarships are limited, current rules do not stop walk-on players, usually either sought-after recruits or established transfers, from receiving NIL deals that go toward covering tuition and other college living expenses, similar to being on scholarship. As the NCAA moves toward revenue sharing, roster sizes could shrink, eliminating walk-ons.

These scholarship videos are some of the things that makes college football what it is, and this could become a thing of the past in the future.
