Former SEC defensive back Addison Williams is set for a promotion, according to a report from Matt Zenitz of On3 Sports. Based on what has been released, Williams is set to become the Knights’ next defensive coordinator.

The former South Carolina DB has held a spot on UCF’s staff the last 2 years after working at both Coastal Carolina and Auburn.

The previous person in this position was defensive coordinator Travis Williams, who headed to Arkansas to replace new UNLV head coach Barry Odom. This Williams coached at Auburn from 2014 to 2020, and rose from analyst to co-defensive coordinator while also coaching linebackers.

It will be interesting to see how this move works out long-term for the Knights.
