ESPN’s Football Power Index gave its prediction for the Nebraska-Colorado matchup, which is set to take place at 7:30 p.m. EST Saturday in Lincoln.

The FPI gives the Cornhuskers a 60.5% chance to beat the Buffaloes on Saturday night, which would be their first win over Colorado since 2010. The Buffs have taken down Nebraska 3 straight times since then with Deion Sanders & Co. claiming a 36-14 win in Boulder last season.

Colorado opened its 2024 campaign with a 31-26 win over the North Dakota State, a perennial power at the FCS level. Shedeur Sanders finished with 445 yards and 4 touchdowns on 26-for-34 passing while Travis Hunter hauled in 7 passes for 132 yards and 3 TDs. Jimmy Horn Jr. paced the team with 7 receptions, 198 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Thursday night matchup.

The Dylan Raiola era got off to a great start in Lincoln on Saturday. The Cornhuskers beat UTEP 40-7 behind 238 passing yards and a pair of scores from the former 5-star quarterback. Nebraska fans are expecting Raiola to be the player to lead the program back to the glory days of old, and the pressure is on to go toe-to-toe with Sanders and the high-powered Colorado offense.

This game will also serve as a major measuring stick for both Sanders and Matt Rhule’s coaching tenures with each coach entering Year 2 at the helm of their respective programs. DraftKings has Nebraska -7 entering the primetime matchup, and it could be a shootout with an over/under set at 57.
