Mike Norvell addressed DJ Uiagalelei’s first start in a Florida State uniform following the No. 10 Seminoles’ 24-21 loss to Georgia Tech on Saturday in Dublin.

Uiagalelei was 19-of-27 for 193 yards while throwing for 0 touchdowns and interceptions. He did lead an impressive game-tying drive in the 4th quarter that included a pair of 4th down conversions.

Ultimately, Norvell stated in his postgame press conference that the lack of offensive production wasn’t all on Uialagelei.

“I thought DJ did some good things. I think he did a great job there with that fourth-quarter drive. I thought he delivered at that moment,” Norvell said, according to Tomahawk Nation’s Jordan Silversmith. “At the end of the day, we have to be more explosive, and that’s not just on one player.”

An example of that last point can be found by looking at the Noles’ run game, which managed just 98 yards on 31 carries — a 3.2-yard-per-carry average. That said, the former Clemson and Oregon State quarterback will need to fare much better if Florida State is to capture a spot in the 12-team College Football Playoff field.

Florida State welcomes Boston College to Tallahassee for a Week 1 matchup on Aug. 31.
