Chantz Johnson, LB out of Texas, announces SEC commitment

Chantz Johnson, a 3-star linebacker out of College Station, Texas, has announced a commitment to play in the SEC.
Johnson, who is listed at 6-foot and 210 pounds, decided to stay home and play at Texas A&M. He had a reported 14 offers and was recruited to the Aggies by Tyler Santucci and TJ Rushing. Johnson is ranked the No. 59 linebacker in the country, and the No. 110 player in the state of Texas, according to the 247Sports Composite. Johnson has run a 4.53-second 40-yard dash.
Johnson’s A&M offer came in on Dec. 15.
Johnson is the son of A&M assistant strength coach Jerry Johnson, and he is the 17th commitment of the 2023 class and joins Katy Paetow’s Daymion Sanford and Temple’s Taurean York among the linebackers.
