College football media, fans react to Jimbo Fisher’s response to Nick Saban

College football fans had a field day Thursday following comments from Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisher.
Saban started it up Wednesday night by saying Texas A&M “bought their roster” in reference to Name, Image & Likeness. The Aggies signed the No. 1 recruiting class in history, and Alabama finished second.
“I know the consequence is going to be difficult for the people who are spending tons of money to get players,” Saban said at a 50-day countdown event for the World Games, which will be held in Birmingham in July (via AL.com). “You read about it, you know who they are. We were second in recruiting last year. A&M was first. A&M bought every player on their team. Made a deal for name, image and likeness.
“We didn’t buy one player. Aight? But I don’t know if we’re going to be able to sustain that in the future, because more and more people are doing it. It’s tough.”
Well, Fisher and Texas A&M called a special press conference Thursday to respond to Saban’s comments … and respond he did. Fisher was spitting fire towards Saban and his character.
“It’s a shame we have to do this. It’s despicable someone can say something about someone, and more importantly, 17-year-old kids,” Fisher said. “It’s despicable that a reputable head coach would come out and say this when things don’t go his way. … The narcissist in him doesn’t let this happen.”
Fisher later alluded to potentially shady things in Saban’s past.
“Go dig in to wherever he’s been. You can find out everything. It’s a shame,” Fisher continued. “Some people think they’re God. Go dig into how God did his deal.”
Reactions started pouring in from college football media members and fans:
A minute in, there’s three despicables and a narcissist remark 😮

Jimbo has called Saban despicable and a narcissist in the first 30 seconds. Game on.

Holy crap, Jimbo. Calls Saban a “narcissist.” Says his comments were “despicable.”

That might be the wildest press conference I’ve seen. We’ve got a full on SEC feud between Saban and Jimbo. Wow

Jimbo Fisher calling Nick Saban a “narcissist” is like the 6th most savage thing he said so far.

Now we wait for @Lane_Kiffin to respond to Jimbo Fisher’s press conference.

Jimbo Fisher today…🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥‼️‼️

Everything about this feud is comically dumb and I love it.
Nick Saban is complaining that Texas A&M paid a bunch of money and signed a lot of really good players, as if Alabama does not.
Jimbo Fisher truly believes he can convince you that money has nothing to do with it.

Jimbo Fisher absolutely excoriating Nick Saban in a press conference today is exactly why I cannot quit college football. No other sport like it.
