David Hicks Jr., 5-star prospect and No. 1 2023 DL, announces SEC commitment

David Hicks Jr. is heading to the SEC, staying close to his home in Katy, Texas.
On Wednesday afternoon, Hicks announced that he was choosing Texas A&M over Oklahoma and others.
He was considered a near-lock to go to Oklahoma, so many were surprised he chose A&M, which he did in a live ceremony:

Per the 247Sports composite rankings, Hicks is the No. 12 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class, the No. 1 defensive lineman and the No. 1 overall recruit from the state of Texas.
The Aggies now have 12 players in their 2023 recruiting class, which currently ranks No. 18 in the nation, per 247Sports.
