Former Mississippi State wide receiver Mario Carver has announced his transfer destination. The standout WR entered the portal on Dec. 9 and took to social media on Tuesday to confirm his commitment to Texas A&M.

“Gig Em,” said Carver in a social media post quoting his announcement. The WR will have 3 years of eligibility remaining.

In 2024 as a true freshman, Carver caught 17 passes for 368 yards and 3 touchdowns. Only 3 players had more catches and yards than Carver did for the Bulldogs.

Before going to Starkville, Carver was a standout at Clay-Chalkville High School in Pinson, AL. The wideout was rated as a 4-star prospect and the 247Sports Composite ranking had Carver as the No. 49 WR and No. 18 prospect out of Alabama in the 2024 class.

Carver had heavy interest from Georgia, Arkansas, and Auburn before signing on with MSU. He was one of the prizes of the team’s 2024 class, but now becomes 1 of 24 Bulldogs who have entered the portal already.

Carver is the 5th player to commit to the Aggies via the portal so far. Fellow WR Micah Hudson as well as QB Jacob Zeno, TE Micah Riley, and CB Julian Humphrey have all signed on to play for the Aggies in 2025. The Aggies need WR depth as Jabre Barber and Jahdae Walker exhausted their eligibility in 2024.

The Aggies finished the 2024 season with an 8-4 record and will play the USC Trojans in the Las Vegas Bowl on Friday, Dec. 27.
