As Hurricane Harvey continues to cause flooding and other destruction in the Houston area, many members of the Texas A&M football team have seen their families affected by the storm.
Therefore, when the 2017 season kicks off on Sunday, the Aggies will honor the victims of Hurricane Harvey and offer support with a special helmet decal.
The Texas A&M helmets for the game against UCLA will sport the below decal, with a heart over Houston and the state of Texas imposed over a hurricane symbol:

According to a school release, coach Kevin Sumlin said it’s important for the Texas A&M family to offer support to those affected by Hurricane Harvey anyway it can:
“It’s really a tough time,” Sumlin said. “Now that the pictures and the videos are coming out, I think the rest of the world understands what people in this region have known for the last three days. It’s something that hits home with us with the number of players from the Gulf Coast area, and from Houston in particular, on our team. It’s a tough time for the people of Houston and the Gulf Coast, and our thoughts and prayers are with them.”
The Aggies and Bruins will kick off at 6:30 p.m. Central time on Sunday, Sept. 3. The game can be seen on FOX.
