Mike Elko spoke at his introductory press conference about his plan for interim HC Elijah Robinson when he takes over. Robinson will serve as the team’s acting head coach through the Aggies’ bowl game.
And Elko told reporters Monday that he has made it a priority to retain Robinson while also hinting that the process to keep him in College Station has already begun.
.@CoachMikeElko: “Elijah (Robinson) will certainly be a priority, and getting him to stay here will be a huge priority. That process has already begun.”

Robinson did an excellent job at keeping the team together following the dismissal of former HC Jimbo Fisher. Elko said as much Monday:
.@CoachMikeElko: “It’s re-plugging the kids in. If you look at what Elijah (Robinson) has done the last two weeks, that process has already started.”

Robinson’s leadership saw the Aggies down Abilene Christian to crack bowl eligibility before falling to LSU in a respectable manner, 42-30.
Robinson has served as part of Texas A&M’s staff since 2018, originally as the Aggies’ defensive line coach. He was made the team’s run game coordinator in 2022 and Co-DC in 2023.
