Report: Kevin Sumlin no longer in the running to be UCF’s head coach

On Sunday, it was reported that the UCF Knights liked former Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin to replace Scott Frost.
However, Sumlin may have been a bit more interested in seeing what happened with the Florida State opening, as he was linked to that job and also to the Oregon job should Willie Taggart head to FSU.
Now, according to reporter Brandon Helwig, the Knights are moving on, unwilling to wait around for Sumlin to decide:
Per an industry source, Kevin Sumlin is officially out of the running to become UCF's next head coach. Danny White is now focusing on other candidates. https://t.co/VbMj3oBA6I

Did Sumlin overplay his hand? That remains to be seen, but whoever lands the UCF job will get a team that finished the 2017 season a perfect 12-0 and will try to make it 13-0 against Auburn in the Peach Bowl.
Sumlin is back on the hunt for a new job, but whether or not he lands one is unclear at this point. Florida State still has a hire to make, as do several other teams, so the coaching carousel isn’t done spinning just yet.
