Shemar Stewart is ready to make the jump to the next level, the defensive lineman for Texas A&M confirmed in a note on social media.
The Aggies were in the mix for the College Football Playoff for much of the season. Unfortunately, they stumbled down the stretch and were well outside the final field on Selection Sunday.
With A&M out of the Playoff, Stewart confirmed on Monday that he is leaving College Station for the NFL Draft:
“It is with a heart full of gratitude and emotion that I announce my decision to declare for the 2025 NFL Draft,” wrote Stewart. “This decision marks a pivotal step in my journey, and while it’s bittersweet to leave behind such a special chapter of my life, I know it’s the right time to move forward and chase the dreams I’ve worked so hard to achieve.”
Here is Stewart’s note from social media:
In terms of stats, Stewart registered just 1.5 sacks in each of his 3 seasons with the Aggies, finishing with 4.5 sacks for his career. He also has 65 career tackles, 12 TFLs and 4 pass breakups.
However, Stewart was a 3-year contributor for Texas A&M, and his physical makeup will have many NFL scouts and teams drooling.
At 6-foot-6 and 290 pounds, Stewart has the ideal size to go with impressive athleticism to play off the edge at the next level. He’s a name to watch when the NFL Combine rolls around, and it will be interesting to see how high Stewart pushes his stock with his physical traits on full display.
