Shemar Stewart was arguably the biggest winner from Day 1 of the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

Stewart’s day included an incredibly-impressive time in the 40-yard dash. He ran a 4.59 despite weighing in at 6-foot-5, 267 pounds. Here’s a clip from his sprint:

The former Texas A&M star also showed off his explosiveness vertically. He registered a 40-inch vertical during that Combine drill. Here’s video:

The result of Stewart’s day is one of the most dominant performances all-time by a defensive end at the NFL Combine, per Relative Athletic Score. According to that metric, Stewart’s day at the Combine ranks 3rd out of 1,802 defensive ends who have participated in drills since 1987.

Stewart was setting up to be something of a controversial prospect for the 2025 NFL Draft, this kind of performance may be enough to cement his status as a 1st-round pick. Stewart recorded 12 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks during his career in College Station.

If Stewart does go in Round 1, he’d be the 37th 1st-round pick in Texas A&M football history. No player has become a 1st-round pick out of Texas A&M since Kenyon Green in 2022. The last defensive lineman to do it was Myles Garrett.

The 2025 NFL Draft is set to begin on April 24.
