The Jimbo Fisher (spring game) era got off to big start Saturday at Kyle Field.

Texas A&M set a new spring game attendance record with an announced attendance of 48,129, nearly 3,000 more fans than when Johnny Manziel was the reigning Heisman Trophy winner in 2013. And as ironic as it is, Manziel played a part during Saturday’s record crowd.

The university really turned Saturday’s spring game into a destination event for Texas A&M fans. Manziel was the all-time QB during halftime’s flag football game featuring former players.

Of course, the record spring game crowd is less than half of Kyle Field’s capacity of 102,000, but nonetheless, it was a nice turnout for Fisher’s first showing.

Following Saturday’s scrimmage, Fisher was asked about his first spring game at Texas A&M, via Travis L. Brown:

The Florida Gators currently have the SEC’s highest spring game attendance with 53,105 Saturday.
