Texas A&M is expected to be without a key playmaker this season, as tight end Donovan Green is expected to miss this season after he suffered a torn ACL in his knee during the team’s scrimmage Saturday, GigEm247 reported.
The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Green last season played in 10 games with 4 starts, Green ranked fourth on the team in catches (22) and receiving yards (233) while totaling two touchdowns. He showed flashes against Arkansas with 3 catches for 50 yards, and 4 catches for 48 yards against Ole Miss.
The Aggies landed Green in their decorated 2022 recruiting class, as he came out of Dickinson (Texas) High and was a 4-star recruit ranked as high as the No. 5 tight end and No. 116 overall player in that recruiting cycle.
The options to replace Green include sixth-year senior Max Wright, redshirt sophomore Fernando Garza III, sophomore Jake Johnson, redshirt freshman Theo Melin Öhrström and true freshman Jaden Platt.
Wright may be primed to fill the void after he played in 8 games, made 6 starts, and served as a season-long team captain. He’s made 13 catches for 194 yards and 2 touchdowns in 40 career games.
