Texas A&M is gearing up for a huge conference showdown with LSU in Week 9. Both teams enter the matchup at 6-1 overall, while the Aggies are 4-0 in SEC play and the Tigers are 3-0.
Ahead of the matchup, the Aggies have been teasing something special. Mike Elko even told fans to wear black instead of the typical maroon or white for the game. The Texas A&M social media team posted highlights from practice this week without color, another strong hint that something unique is planned.
On Thursday, the Aggies confirmed suspicions by unveiling blackout uniforms. The team posted a video on social media showing off the all-black attire.

The uniforms are all black with white numbers and white lettering. The helmets are also black, with a white “Aggies” script. Before the 2024 season kicked off, the Aggies released a video teasing this uniform combo. It was unknown until now, though, which game they’d be worn in.
This Week 9 showdown is the perfect time for the team to unveil these uniforms. The Tigers have been teasing all-white uniforms for the game, so both teams will be sporting alternate uniforms.
Black uniforms at Texas A&M are rare but not unheard of. Under Kevin Sumlin, the team sported black uniforms with maroon stripes against Mississippi State in 2012. Then, in 2015, the team wore similar uniforms but with gray accents instead of maroon.
The Aggies and Tigers will kick off from Kyle Field on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
