WATCH: Johnny Manziel’s first play in the AAF was an impressive first-down scramble

It didn’t take long for Johnny Manziel to start making an impact in the Alliance of American Football.
Recently signed by the struggling Memphis Express, Manziel took the field in the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Birmingham Iron.
As you can see below, his first play was a big one, as he took off on a read-option and scrambled for 13 yards and a first down:

It’s clear the former Texas A&M star still has blazing speed, and he’ll try to put that to good use the rest of the season.
Shortly thereafter, he completed his first pass, which was a nice throw for 36 yards:

He seems to be fitting right in for the Express, so we’ll see how he fares moving forward.
