Bad news is quickly becoming a common theme on Rocky Top these days, as the Tennessee football program just can’t seem to catch a break this fall.

The latest news involves former starting offensive lineman Jack Jones. The junior offensive lineman will no longer play football due to injury according to head coach Butch Jones. The UT coach made the announcement Monday afternoon during his weekly press conference.

According to Jones, his lineman has seen several specialists in recent weeks and the determination was made that ending his playing career would be in his best interest. Jones hurt his neck this season after starting the first few games of the season. He had been out of the lineup in recent weeks, causing a reshuffling of the Tennessee offensive line.

Jones’ backup Venzell Boulware transferred from the program following the Georgia game.
