#FreeCadeMays: Tennessee OL Trey Smith supports teammate on Twitter after NCAA ruling

Published:
On Monday evening, it was announced that the NCAA had denied Tennessee OL Cade Mays’ eligibility waiver for the 2020 season.
That led to plenty of negative reaction on Twitter, and Tennessee will appeal the ruling to try to get the NCAA to overturn it.
After the news broke, star Tennessee OL Cade Mays took to Twitter to support his new teammate, using the hashtag #FreeCadeMays:
My brother @cade_mays has put in wayyy too much work to simply be denied. At the end of the day this isn’t right… do the right thing @NCAA! #FreeCadeMays pic.twitter.com/mcoZfoiIOm

The NCAA rulings on eligibility waivers seem to be 50-50 propositions, at best, with no real explanations given for why each decision is made.
Will the organization overturn Mays’ waiver denial? We’ll find out before the start of 2020 season, maybe. Or not. Who knows?
