Joe Milton takes responsibility for loss to Alabama: ‘I’m the quarterback’
Joe Milton was quick to take accountability after Tennessee’s loss to Alabama.
The quarterback put together a solid performance with 271 yards and a pair of touchdowns along with 59 yards on the ground, but he wasn’t satisfied with the game.
When asked if he thought he played at a high level, Milton kept his answer short.
“No,” he said in a postgame press conference. “We lost.”
Milton wasn’t the sole reason for the loss. A defensive collapse, along with Alabama stepping things up on offense, led to the Tide’s comeback in the second half.
Despite that, Milton says that he takes full responsibility as the leader of the team.
“I have to take responsibility,” Milton said. “I’m the quarterback and a leader on this team.”
The loss will sting for a while for Milton and the Vols, but they’ll need to turn things around fast to prepare for another tough road test against Kentucky.
And things don’t get easier for Tennessee as it still has to face Missouri and Georgia later this season.
