Tennessee apparently made an impression on Olaijah Griffin over the weekend.
Griffin is a 6-foot, 170 pound cornerback prospect in the class of 2018. He is listed as a high 4-star recruit, according to the 247Sports Composite.
The Mission Viejo, Calif. (Mission Viejo High School) native made it across the country for an official visit in Knoxville this weekend.
“I’m committed to UCLA right now, but I’m not signing until February,” he reportedly said, according to VolQuest’s Jesse Simonton. “I really like Tennessee.”
Griffin is rated as the No. 4 corner in the country, and is the No. 5 player in the state of California. He is the No. 30 prospect in the nation.
Griffin has other SEC offers from Alabama, Auburn and Texas A&M. There also are a handful of schools on the west coast looking to land him. That includes, of course, UCLA, which currently holds his commitment.
But in the world of recruiting, it’s a long time between now and February.
