Report: Tennessee defender Ryan Thaxton arrested for domestic assault, false imprisonment
If these allegations stick, there’s a chance Ryan Thaxton’s playing career at Tennessee could be over before it even had a chance to begin.
The redshirt freshman did not appear in any games for the Volunteers last season after signing with Tennessee following his prep career at St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes School of Alexandria, Va. He was rated as a consensus three-star member of Tennessee’s 2017 signing class as a defensive lineman.
According to Jimmy Hyams of WNML radio in Knoxville, Thaxton was arrested over the weekend and has been charged with domestic assault and false imprisonment. Hyams shared the news Monday morning:
Tennessee 2nd year football player Ryan Thaxton was arrested Sunday at 8:23 PM and and charged with domestic assault and false imprisonment of his girlfriend, per arrest report. Report says Thaxton pushed and forced girl into his room and refused to let her leave. Bond: $1500

The Tennessee contingent will be appearing in Atlanta for the 2018 version of SEC Media Days on Wednesday. Without a doubt, Jeremy Pruitt will be asked about this situation and it will be interesting to see how the first-year coach handles a player getting into this situation leading up to the biggest media event of the SEC’s offseason.
