Report: Tennessee working on a deal with Washington State coach Mike Leach
The pirate of college football could soon be docking his ship with the Vol Navy.
According to Newy Scruggs of NBC Dallas-Fort Worth, Tennessee is “working on a deal” with Washington State coach Mike Leach. Tennessee AD John Currie reportedly traveled to Los Angeles Thursday to interview the Wazzu coach.
Washington State is coming off a 9-3 season, 6-3 in the Pac-12, and was a game away from winning the Pac-12 North. Leach has been at Wazzu for six seasons and has a combined 38-37 record with the program. Over his college career, Leach has a 122-80 record which is impressive given the state of the Texas Tech and Washington State programs he inherited.
Scruggs reports a deal could be done between Tennessee and Leach as soon as Friday:
Sources tell @NBCDFWSports that former Texas Tech coach Mike Leach is working on a deal to become the next coach at Tennessee. A deal could be announced Friday. I’m working on more details.
