Tennessee added a big-time prospect to its 2026 recruiting class on Tuesday afternoon.
The Vols landed a commitment from 3-star edge CJ Edwards. He chose Tennessee over offers from Michigan, North Carolina and other top programs.
Edwards is currently a 3-star prospect in the class of 2026. He’s the No. 553 overall player and the No. 47 edge in the country for this cycle, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He’s also the No. 10 player from the state of New Jersey.
Edwards attends Saint Joseph High School in Metuchen, New Jersey. He’s listed at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds.
Although Edwards is not currently a blue-chip prospect, Tennessee’s coaching staff identified him early on as a target for its 2026 class. The Vols initially offered Edwards a scholarship back in February of 2024. Offers from programs like Michigan, North Carolina and NC State came much later.
Tennessee is now up to 8 commits in the class of 2026. It’s still relatively early, the Vols’ class currently ranks No. 7 nationally, per 247Sports Composite rankings.
