Mike Ekeler continues to be the most interesting coach on Josh Heupel’s Tennessee coaching staff.
The first-year Tennessee special teams coordinator and outside linebackers coach met with the media on Friday and was asked about what he looks for in a kick returner.
Fearlessness is the key to returning kicks according to Ekeler, who also referenced the Tom Cruise movie Days of Thunder when discussing kick returners.
When asked about what he looks for in a punt returner, that’s when Ekeler really got colorful.
According to the Vols assistant, he looks for “a fart in a skillet” in his punt returners.
What exactly does that mean?
“A guy that can make you miss,” he answered.
