Before a raucous crowd ahead of the Florida game Saturday night, Tennessee honored players from its 1998 national championship team.
Though they weren’t all in attendance, the captains were FB Shawn Bryson, PK Jeff Hall, G Mercedes Hamilton, LB Al Wilson and QB Tee Martin.
A public address announcement of the captains in attendance brought loud cheers from the packed Neyland Stadium.
The Vols knocked off Florida State that year in a season that finished 13-0 season. It was the program’s first national championship in 47 years.
The Vols and their fans have celebrated the anniversary throughout this fall, and they’re hoping some of the magic transfers to the new Jeremy Pruitt era.
