According to West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen, the Mountaineers will be without cornerback Jake Long for an extended amount of time, including their season opener against Tennessee.
According to 247Sports, Long suffered a broken hand during fall camp. This limits the Mountaineers to just five scholarship cornerbacks.
The sophomore played in 11 games in 2017, mainly on special teams. He recorded just one tackle.
Long was a three-star recruit from Hamilton, Ohio and was slated to be the second-string cornerback on the left side. In high school, he was the AP All-Central Division III District Defensive Player of the Year in 2015.
.@Holgorsendana says corner Jake Long has a broken hand which will keep him out for a few months.
