Arch Manning is just months away from signing his NLI with Texas and making his commitment to Steve Sarkisian’s program official. But the heralded high school quarterback recruit and New Orleans native still has work to do for his Isidore Newman team.
On Friday, Newman was on the road facing Pearl River as it looked to bounce back from a loss a week ago. Manning entered the contest with a pair of school records in sight: the most passing touchdowns and passing yards for a career. The holders of those records? Peyton Manning, with 93 touchdowns, and Eli Manning, with 7,268.
And the younger Manning shattered both records in a 52-22 win, per Yahoo Sports. Having tied his older uncle’s mark a week prior, all he did was throw 7 touchdowns to give himself 100 for his career. On top of that, needing 110 yards to break Eli’s yardage record, he threw for 356 of them.
The Greenies are 4-1 and will head to Belle Chasse on Oct. 7 as Manning looks to put further distance between him and his uncles in the school record books.
