Connor Williams has decided to retire from the NFL effective immediately, the Seattle Seahawks announced on Friday.
The former Texas standout is retiring for personal reasons, per head coach Mike Macdonald. Here’s video of the Seahawks coach announcing the news:

This was Williams’ 7th NFL season. He previously spent time with the Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins. During his time with the Dolphins, he suffered a serious knee injury that kept him out for much of the 2023-24 campaign.
Williams was a second-round pick out of Texas in the 2018 NFL Draft. He was a starter throughout his NFL career, making starts in 86 of his 92 games played overall. That includes 9 starts in each of Seattle’s first 9 games to start the 2024-25 season.
In addition to his pro career, Williams as a standout at Texas collegiately. He was a freshman All-American back in 2015. He then progressed to earning first-team all-Big 12 and consensus All-America status in 2016. Although he played tackle for the Longhorns, he was an interior lineman for the majority of his NFL career. He played center with the Seahawks but also spent time as a guard in the NFL.
Seattle will face division-rival San Francisco on Sunday.
