The (Cotton Bowl) show must go on.

Officials from the bowl released a statement earlier this week indicating that Friday’s College Football Playoff semifinal game between Ohio State and Texas could be delayed depending on the weather. On Tuesday, the Cotton Bowl released a statement saying the game will be played as scheduled.

“We continue to monitor weather reports, and over the last 24 hours, the forecast for later this week has improved according to the National Weather Service,” the Cotton Bowl said in a statement. “We have been meeting routinely with city officials, the Director of Transportation for North Texas, and the College Football Playoff. Should the forecast shift, we are prepared for all contingencies.

“North Texas highways are already being brined and plans are in place to assure a safe environment for everyone in and around AT&T Stadium on game day. The teams arrive (Wednesday), as planned, and the 2025 CFP Semifinal at the 89th Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic will kick off on Friday evening as scheduled.”

Kickoff between the Longhorns and the Buckeyes is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on Friday in Arlington, Texas.

The city of Dallas looks to be prepared for the event, and it is worth noting that temperatures are expected to reach above freezing on gameday. The Longhorns and the Buckeyes will be playing under a closed roof in Arlington, and obviously, Ohio State is no stranger to playing in extreme cold and snowy conditions. The primary concern was travel for both teams and fanbases getting to the contest safely.

That is not a concern any longer, though conditions will continue to be monitored for any potential changes. Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger reported on Tuesday that there were “little to no” serious discussions about postponing the game.

Dallas is preparing for record snow on Thursday that could significantly impact travel along the Interstate 35, 20, and 40 corridors. The winter storm that is forecast to sweep through the southern US this week could dump more than a foot of snow on Dallas, according to the FOX Forecast Center.
