Quinn Ewers left the game against UTSA after sustaining an injury in the first half. At the half, Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said his quarterback was out with a strained abdomen.

While he was playing, Ewers was playing very well, going 14-of-16 for 185 yards and 2 touchdowns. With him being forced to leave with the injury, backup Arch Manning came in and made his presence felt instantly.

He threw a 19-yard touchdown on his first play, and then followed that up with a 67-yard touchdown run.

The run was the longest by a Texas quarterback since Vince Young in 2005.

Manning has currently thrown for 161 yards and 3 touchdowns, while wide receiver Isaiah Bond has 5 catches for 103 yards and 2 touchdowns.

The Longhorns are in complete control of the game, as Texas is up 35-3 on UTSA early in the 3rd quarter.

Injuries are starting to pile up for the Longhorns this year, as starting running back Jaydon Blue missed the game as well due to an injury. Texas will be back in action next week against UL-Monroe in their final game before the start of SEC play. We’ll see if Ewers’ injury lingers or if he’ll be back in action soon.
