Quinn Ewers received a $6 million offer to leave Texas or maybe put the NFL on hold for another year and enter the transfer portal, according to a report from On3 on Tuesday.

Right now, the junior quarterback is a little busy. He’s preparing for Wednesday’s College Football Playoff quarterfinal showdown against Arizona State at the Peach Bowl in Atlanta. But while Ewers tries to figure out a way to get the Longhorns into next week’s semifinals, it seems that others are trying to find a way to get him to remain in college football and play somewhere other than Austin in 2025.

The report once again shows how NIL and college football’s new system — or lack thereof — has taken over the sport. Ewers is expected to head to the NFL after this season, however it ends for himself and Texas in the Playoff, but you never know, and offers like the one On3 reported makes the outlook on Ewers’ future that much cloudier.

The report also suggested that tampering was at an all-time high with Ewers, so who knows how this chaos will or won’t influence Ewers’ decision to either return to Texas for another season, head elsewhere and indeed enter the portal, or go pro like most expect him to.
