Texas basketball improved to 8-2 on the season Saturday afternoon following a well-earned 96-85 win over LSU in Houston at the Halal Guys Showcase.
It was all Longhorns in the first half. Texas blitzed to a 56-37 halftime lead before the Tigers fought hard in the 2nd half, cutting the deficit to as little as 7. But with every run LSU seemed to go on, Texas had an answer.

The Longhorns saw 4 players hit double-digits Saturday, led by guard Max Abmas with 20, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. If not for LSU’s Jordan Wright, Abmas would have been the best player on the court Saturday.
No, Wright had to receive his flowers despite LSU’s losing effort. The Vanderbilt transfer was electric for Matt McMahon’s group, dropping a game-high 33 points with 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 assist and just 1 turnover.
Texas will be back in action against Texas A&M CC next Friday.
