Texas added a major piece to its 2024 offense on Saturday night.
The Longhorns picked up a commitment from Houston receiver transfer Matthew Golden. He will have two years of eligibility to make an impact in Austin.
He shared his commitment with On3’s Hayes Fawcett:

Golden joins Texas after back-to-back standout seasons at Houston. Golden caught 76 passes for 988 yards and 13 touchdowns for the Cougars over the past two years.
Golden turned in a big-time performance against the Longhorns when UT out-lasted the Cougars earlier this season. In that game, he caught the UT coach staff’s attention with 7 catches for 88 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Golden is the first commit for Texas out of the transfer portal so far this cycle. The Longhorns have been focused on preparing to face Washington in the College Football Playoff, but are still keeping an eye on next season.
Texas will face Washington at 7:45 p.m. CT on Jan. 1 in a semifinal matchup.
