Xavier Worthy, Texas’ top wide receiver, suffered an apparent ankle injury during the Longhorns’ Big 12 Championship matchup against No. 23 Oklahoma State Saturday.

Worthy was down on the ground for a few moments and had to be helped to the locker room by Texas medical staff.

His status for the final 11 minutes of game action has not been officially announced, though he exited the locker room not dressed out and in crutches. It’s safe to assume his day is done amid an insurmountable Texas lead.

Worthy  is one of the top receivers in the Big 12 and had totaled 6 receptions for 86 yards at the time of his injury on Saturday. For the season, Worthy is sitting at 67 receptions for 883 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Worthy’s injury does not have an enormous impact on this game. The Longhorns wrapped this one up before halftime. However, assuming Texas can hold on, the Longhorns may still be in the running for a CFP Playoff berth should Florida State lose later Saturday night.

Even if the Seminoles win the Longhorns will have a slight chance to hop the Seminoles, who are down star QB Jordan Travis for the remainder of the year.

Texas currently leads OK State 49-14 with under 10 minutes to go.
