The abysmal Vanderbilt home crowd leaves us with many questions

Despite a promising start to the season last week, Vanderbilt fans don’t appear to be filling the stadium for the first home game of the season at Vanderbilt Stadium. Coach Derek Mason’s squad was one of the SEC teams that exceeded expectations in week 1, but alas, it doesn’t appear to have impacted the excitement levels back home.

As the picture shows, with 15 minutes until kickoff, the crowd is pretty abysmal.

What’s the solution? Smaller stadium? Vanderbilt already has a tiny stadium with regards to capacity when compared to other SEC stadiums. With a capacity of just under 40,000, how many are watching Vanderbilt vs. Alabama A&M? 5,000?

Perhaps Vanderbilt should schedule its cupcake games as road games?
