Let’s check in on Vanderbilt.
The Commodores fell to South Carolina in embarrassing fashion Saturday. 47-6. The Gamecocks, one of the lower-tier teams in the SEC, controlled this one from start to finish.
And after the game, Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea addressed reporters and appeared to praise Ken Seals’ ability to protect the ball to give Vanderbilt ” a chance to punt.”
Yes, he actually said that:
Lea said on Ken Seals that, “I appreciate the fact that when he was in there, he took care of the ball and gave us a chance to punt.”
Is…the objective here to score points, or to have zero turnovers?

Somewhere, the Iowa Hawkeyes football program nods in approval.
Seals struggled against the Gamecocks, throwing for just 104 yards with 1 touchdown on 13-of-28 completions. As Lea said, Seals did not account for any turnovers Saturday. Vanderbilt punted 8 times Saturday in a 41-point loss.
The Commodores are now 2-9 on the year and 0-7 in conference play. They’ve lost 9 straight and have just 1 game to play: Against Tennessee in Knoxville in Week 13.
