Vanderbilt is on the road on Saturday as the Commodores are in Death Valley to take on LSU, and they sent an early message by connecting for a touchdown on the first play of the game.

Quarterback Diego Pavia hit wide receiver Quincy Skinner Jr. on a 63-yard pass play to give the team a 7-0 lead.

That catch was the longest catch of Skinner’s career and is the 2nd longest pass of the season for Pavia. He completed a 65-yard pass against Missouri early in the season. It’s the 16th touchdown pass of the season for Pavia, to go along with only 3 interceptions.

It has been a very good season for the Commodores, as they entered the game with a record of 6-4. That puts them as bowl-eligible, and it is the first time the team has done that since 2018.

Vanderbilt will have one game remaining after the battle with LSU when the Commodores host the Tennessee Volunteers. This is the biggest game in the rivalry in a long time, as the Commodores could all but eliminate its in-state rival from the College Football Playoff.

Kickoff is scheduled for next weekend at 12 p.m. ET and the game is on ABC.
