Vanderbilt fans can get an early look at Clark Lea’s third team in just over a month. The Commodores have set their annual Black and Gold spring game for April 8 at 5 p.m. CT.
Lea’s squad turned heads in the final weeks of the 2022 season. Vanderbilt upset No. 24 Kentucky 24-21 on Nov. 12 to give the Commodores their first SEC win since the 2019 season. The Dores followed that up the next Saturday with a 31-24 over Florida to get to 5 wins on the season. The 5-7 mark in 2022 was a 3-game improvement over a 2-10 record in 2021, Lea’s first season.
A few newcomers have joined the team since the 2022 campaign wrapped up. Vanderbilt had 3 early enrollees (RB Sedrick Alexander, LB Ethan Crisp, LB Jailen Ruth) in its 2023 signing class. The Dores also added former Stanford LB Aeneas DiCosmo via the transfer portal.
