Vanderbilt head coach Derek Mason isn’t too worried about his team’s visit to South Bend this season.
The Commodores travel to Notre Dame on September 15 to play in historic Notre Dame Stadium against a likely top 20 opponent, but first things come first. Vanderbilt will play both Middle Tennessee State and Nevada in the first two weeks before the game against the Irish.
When asked specifically about that trip, Mason may have delivered the best quote from Thursday.
“Yeah, we play in the SEC,” Mason said. “I don’t worry about going to South Bend.”

It will be the teams’ third all-time meeting, as they played a home-and-home series in 1995 and 1996. The Irish won both games.
